That's why I took the chance to explore some of the many collections of street stalls peppered about northwestern Lao Cai Province. With their medley of ethnic people and cultures, what goes on around these humble meeting places can really give visitors a real slice of local life.

Thai food fest spices up Ha Noi

A cultural charity event featuring Thai cuisine, folk art demonstrations, music and folk dancing at the American Club, 19-21 Hai Ba Trung Street, will take place this Saturday.
The event will celebrate Loy Krathong, a traditional Thai festival held on the night of the full moon in the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar, in which flowers or lotus-shaped receptacles are set adrift to honour the Goddess of Water.

Tourists moved to safety in flooded central region

Authorities in flood-hit Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang and Quang Nam provinces have reported that all international tourists in the area are safe and sound.
Vo Phi Hung, director of Thua Thien-Hue's Tourism Department, said on Wednesday that around 2,500 international visitors were staying in local hotels and were being provided all essentials. "Hotels can provide food for these guests for ten days," he said.
